Starting and ending the live

The live always starts with a manual, confirmed action: no macro, schedule or rule can start or end it. Vivastream checks your authorization at start and provides the broadcast configuration; you never enter a server or a key.

Before the live: the checks

In the Advanced control room, Checks (header or Control tab) opens “Pre-live checks”. In the Simple view, see Check details.

“Check the known conditions before broadcasting. Passing these checks does not guarantee stream quality.”

• A banner summarizes the state (for example “Server validation received. Check the picture and audio level before starting.”).
• VIVASTREAM CHECKS: Broadcast authorization and readiness — “Authorization, event, organization, broadcast resource and absence of an active live. These conditions are checked again at start.” — with the result, for example “Server conditions met at the time of this check.”. While checking: “Checking…”.
• THIS COMPUTER:
  • Program scene and sources: “Check in production: the scene to broadcast, source visibility and media playback. A camera is not required.”;
  • Audio mixer: “Check the mixer: signals from the required sources, levels and muted channels. No single microphone is required.”;
  • the I checked the picture and audio level. box.
• “Network bandwidth and encoding are not measured here. Check manually added sources in production.”
• Run checks again, Back to production, Start live.

During a live, the page shows “A broadcast or live command is in progress. Pre-live checks will be available after it stops.”.

Live quality

Live quality, in the header, chooses the output quality among those Vivastream offers for the event. The button is active once the checks are received, outside a live and outside a recording.

“The default is ready to use. You can choose another quality before going live.”

Actual values come from Vivastream and may differ from this example. Choose a quality, then Apply, or Cancel. If the chosen quality is no longer offered: “Selected quality unavailable”.

Starting the live

1. Compose the scene to broadcast: in Advanced, the scene in preview is the one broadcast at start.
2. Click Start live (red button in the header, or in the Simple panel).
3. Confirm:

“Start the live event? — The preview scene will be broadcast to this event after Vivastream validation. Check your picture and sound before continuing.”, with the event and organization reminder. Start live or Cancel.

4. Studio checks the authorization again (“Checking Vivastream…”), then connects (“Starting…”). The header offers Cancel start.

5. The stream leaves: the header shows “Studio streaming” and End live, the status bar “Sending from this computer”.

If the scene is empty: “Add a source to your scene before starting the live.”.

During the live

In the Simple view, the status card shows the badge (STARTING, ON AIR, RECONNECTING, STOPPING, LIVE ENDED, INTERRUPTED), “Broadcast in progress”, OUTPUT FROM THIS COMPUTER (“Output · Connected”) and VIVASTREAM CONTROL: “Broadcast control is tracked separately from the audiovisual signal.” and “Platform signal reception and viewer playback are not confirmed here.”.

During the live:

• everything that reaches the output is broadcast;
• Simple view devices are locked;
• ← and Events are blocked: “End the live before leaving production.”;
• you can switch views, produce, use the chat, record;
• emergency stays available if enabled (see Emergency mode).

Automatic reconnection

If the network weakens, Studio shows “Reconnecting stream…” (RECONNECTING badge) and tries to restore the output. If that fails: “Stream interrupted. Check your connection and try again.” (INTERRUPTED badge).

Session expired during the live

“Session expired. Stopping the local stream remains available.” The live is not cut; new authenticated actions wait for you to sign in again (Reconnect). “Recovery refused. Reconnect the account that opened this studio.” if another account signs in.

Ending the live

1. Click End live.
2. Confirm:

“End the live event? — Streaming for this event will stop. Viewers will no longer receive the live stream.” Continue streaming (default choice) or End live.

3. Studio stops the output (“Stopping…”) and waits for Vivastream’s confirmation.
4. “Stop confirmed by Vivastream” / “Stop complete. Vivastream still manages the event lifecycle.”. The card shows LIVE ENDED.

If Vivastream does not confirm: “Server stop unconfirmed. Retry the server stop.” with Retry server stop. Leaving the control room then asks “Leave production? — The local stream is stopped, but the server stop still needs confirmation in the Vivastream dashboard. Leave production?”.

If a local recording is running when the live ends: “Stop the local recording too? — The live has stopped. Local recording is still running. Would you like to finalize the file or keep recording?” (Stop and finalize / Keep recording). See Recording and upload.

Quitting Studio during a live

“Stop the live and quit? — Streaming will stop on this computer. Studio will wait for Vivastream’s confirmation before closing.”

• Keep Studio open (default choice) cancels quitting.
• Stop and quit ends the live, finalizes any recording, then closes Studio.
• Quit anyway appears if the stop cannot be confirmed.
