Preview, Program and transitions

The Advanced control room works in two steps: you prepare a scene in the preview, then you send it to the output with a transition. Viewers never see what you are preparing.

Outside a live, the output is not sent anywhere: rehearse your sequences freely.

Sending a scene to the output

Click the scene in the Scenes dock: it appears in the preview.
Check its composition: visible sources, live elements, framing.
Choose the transition and its duration in the Transitions dock.
Click Transition. The picture blends from the current output to the new scene:

The scene is on the output. The preview takes back the scene that was on the output, ready to return.

The Transitions dock

Control	Role
Transition list	The transition used by Transition: fade, cut and the transitions you added (slide, swipe, wipe, fade to color…).
Duration (ms)	The transition duration, for example 300 ms for a quick fade, 1,100 ms for a more visible effect.
Transition bar	A T-bar slider from Preview to Output: drag it to run the transition by hand, at your own pace.
Cut	Instant switch, no effect. Ideal for cutting between cameras in rhythm.
Transition	Runs the chosen transition with its duration.

Add Configurable Transition: creates a new transition of a given type (slide, swipe, luma wipe, fade to color, stinger…), which you name and then set up.
Remove Configurable Transition: deletes the selected transition.
Transition Properties: sets up the selected transition (direction, color, wipe image, softness…).
Advanced transitions: additional transition options.

Added transitions are saved with the event preparation.

Cut or Transition?

Situation	Tip
Switching cameras during a concert or a debate	Cut to follow the rhythm without effect.
Opening the live, moving between segments	Transition with a fade or wipe of 300 to 1,000 ms.
Ending the event	A transition to the ending scene, for example a fade to black.
Precise or musical timing	The transition bar, by hand.

During the live

Everything that reaches the output is broadcast to viewers. Before each transition, check the preview: an empty scene or a source hidden by mistake would go live.
